Mrs. Eppley Goes to Washington March 22, 2010
Small Business owners to Bring Floridian Support for Clean Energy to Meet with Senators LeMieux and Nelson
Tampa, Florida– Comprehensive clean energy and climate legislation can bring 78,000 of jobs to Florida and reduce our dependence on foreign oil – something that Mo Eppley and Helda Rodriguez want Senator LeMieux to remember when they visit him this week in Washington D.C. On Wednesday, Mo Eppley, a small business owner in St Petersburg, and Helda Rodriguez, a small business owner in Tampa, will meet with Senators LeMieux and Nelson on Capitol Hill to share the views of everyday Floridians about the benefits of clean energy and climate legislation to Floridians.
“Clean energy jobs can help revive the Florida economy and put us back to work,” said Mo Eppley. “That’s why I count myself among the thousands of Floridians who support clean energy, and it is why I am flying to Washington this week to tell our senators.”
Rodriguez and Eppley were a part of a ground breaking multimedia campaign centered around The Repower Wall, an interactive online destination, where more than 55,000 people and businesses have uploaded messages supporting a transition to clean energy.
Messages from The Repower Wall, including Eppley’s and Rodriguez’s, are also a part of an innovative new grassroots‐driven television advertising campaign that provides everyday Floridians with the tools to make their voices heard in livings rooms throughout the state and in the nation’s capitol. By including video messages from The Repower Wall in television ads, the Climate Protection Action Fund’s Repower Florida campaign is amplifying the voices that leaders in Washington D.C. need to hear – their constituents. And these are the voices calling for immediate action on clean energy.
“It is important for Senator LeMieux to realize just how important passing comprehensive clean energy and climate legislation is for the people of the Bay Area and for every Florida resident,” said Helda Rodriguez. “This week, I’m helping to put power where it belongs, putting front and center the voices of everyday working Floridians to their leaders in Washington.”
Mo Eppley: Owner of MityMo Design in St. Petersburg.
Helda Rodriguez: President of NovaCharge, LLC. in Tampa.
Eppley and Rodriguez are available for interviews, by phone and in person. Please contact Repower Florida Communications Director Blake Williams at 312-772-5253 or Blake.Williams@climateprotect.org for booking.
